Next Un-Happy Hour

November 5, 2008 Leave a comment

I know that I’m supposed to write something insightful here, but I’m just inspired at the moment.  As a result, I will simply use The Brimstone Blog for my own shameless self-promotion and let everyone know that the next Chris Skel Un-Happy Hour Acoustic Revival will take place this Friday, November 7 at the Cottage Bar in beautiful Teaneck, New Jersey.  The festivities will begin at 5:30 sharp so come by and either celebrate the election of Barack Obama or drown your sorrows in booze because of it!  Both are completely acceptable forms of behavior at the Chris Skel Un-Happy Hour Acoustic Revival!

New song posted

I have put up an mp3 of one of my new originals called “Once Upon a Time” at chris-skel.com. This is the track I recorded with The Turnpike Wrecks. Please don’t be too harsh as it is only a demo version and I have yet to tweak a few spots. For those of you who like to sing along, I will post the lyrics soon.

Big weekend

December 14, 2007 1 comment

Well, not that big, I guess. Be that as it may, the weekend will kick off with the next installment of Chris Skel’s Unhappy Hour today at 5:30 at Fitzgerald’s Harp N’ Bard in Clifton. I will play solo acoustic and do two sets (or so) worth of depressing and obscure covers as well as a few crappy originals.

Tomorrow will be low-key, but I may venture out of the house briefly in the morning to stock up on cigars, because I’m running low on my supply.

Sunday morning is pretty huge. I will be heading down to the Cottage Bar in Teaneck to cheer on Liverpool as they take on hated rivals, Manchester United. The only drawback here is that the match begins at 8:30 am and there is a municipal ordinance in Teaneck that prohibits the selling of alcohol until noon on Sundays. Maybe I will have to utilize the sportsman’s flask!
